See what our amazing guests have to say about The AveO!
Excellent Stay! We stayed in the Balinese room which was fabulous and has a nice little balcony overlooking the backyard. The room was clean, spacious and quiet even with other guests present. The hosts were incredibly hospitable. The breakfust was delicious and unique each day. We had the salmon for dinner one night which was amazing. Close to both the strand and seawall. Overall excellent stay and no hesitation giving the highest rating for this wonderul place!
Amazing Bed and Breakfast Avenue O was a wonderful place to stay for a relaxing trip to the beach! The room was beautifully decorated and we loved the renovated shower and bath tub! The balcony was also nice and the backyard was gorgeous with a gazebo and various flowers. The breakfast and yummy treats were delicious and the hosts were very accommodating to bring our breakfast to us due to COVID. We also highly recommend ordering the homemade pizza for dinner. The place was very clean and we felt very comfortable staying there in the midst of COVID. Polly and Jeff were both great hosts, and provided great recommendations for places to see in Galveston.
Amazing! Where do I start? First, the hosts, Polly & Jeff are just the best. They make you feel like long lost friends. They house is beautiful, clean, comfortable and quiet. They have a little dog, Heidi, she is so sweet. The location is great, the beach being just a couple blocks away and you're also not far from The Strand. I wish I had stayed here the whole week I was on the Island. This will be my go to place the next time I visit. Each evening Polly had a sweet treat waiting. It was my Birthday so there was a special birthday surprise and I cannot say enough about the food. It was seriously the best food I had on the Island. Breakfast and Dinner! They offer both. Book directly thru their website and check out the Specials tab! I cannot say enough good things about Avenue O BnB.
Perfect Beach B & B This place is so magical. Perfect old meets new. 4 blocks from the beach, so quiet but close to EVERYTHING. Polly and Jeff are just divine hosts, and THE FOOD. The pictures dont do it justice. 🥰 We cant wait to go back.
Experience five-star service and gourmet goodies in a comfortable relaxing environment just four blocks from the beach and Pleasure Pier, and minutes from The Historic Strand District. Located in the Old Silk Stocking Historic District, this 1924 Mediterranean style historic inn exhibits a barefoot elegance throughout and has been expertly designed by Bill Milligan, a Galveston native, providing a relaxing atmosphere with modern conveniences, while highlighting the historic home's features like picture rail molding, original windows, and original wood flooring. The property sits on one third of an acre surrounded by lush tropical foliage, making it an ideal setting for a romantic getaway or a quick break from workday stress. Citrus, pecan, banana, and fig trees adorn the property, and herb and vegetable gardens add freshness to homemade kitchen gifts. The garden took a big hit from freezing temperatures in February 2021, then again in 2023. We appreciate your patience as we nurse the grounds back to health.

From the moment you enter this unique and warm Galveston Bed and Breakfast, you will experience the true meaning of Island Hospitality. We like to say: 'come as our guest; leave as our friend'! We welcome all people over 10 years of age. You will be judged not by the color of your skin, your religion, your gender identification, or your sexual preference, but on the content of your character. Be pleasant, respect our house rules and property, and we will get along fabulously.

Johnson Brothers Construction originally built the home for Henry Trueheart Adriance, a partner in the first chartered real estate firm in Galveston, and his wife Eva Jones Adriance, a community organizer and hostess extraordinaire. The cost was just over $12,000 and included two full bathrooms and five closets. The Adriance Home is one of the few in Galveston with a basement. Originally built for a coal burning boiler, complete with a coal-shoot accessible from the driveway, the basement now houses the HVAC and water heater systems. Throughout the 20's, 30's and 40's, the Adriance home was a place of social celebrations, committee meetings, and family get-togethers. Galveston faced tough times for several decades until the home was purchased by Gerry and Giles Bennett in 1983. Gerry, a community leader and organizer, as well as owner of Posh Interiors, redecorated the historic home adding lavish window and ceiling treatments and beautifully coordinated wallpaper and paint. The home was once again a showplace. In 2003 the home was bought by Jim and Connie Porter who turned it into a bed and breakfast. They retired to the mountains in 2018.
Jeff and Polly Jones joined the ranks of innkeepers after successful corporate careers spanning 40 years. Now living their dream of entertaining guests in their restored historical home, the Jones' exhibit the true spirit of southern hospitality. The AveO's motto is "Come as Our Guest; Leave as Our Friend". Family heirloom furniture has been incorporated into the decor, including Grandma's 1927 fully restored baby grand piano and Mom's Lalique chandelier. As the home was being renovated, the concrete and metal lathe constructed interior walls and solid concrete exterior were exposed revealing why this home has weathered almost a century of hurricanes sustaining only minor damage. Original home features, such as the picture rail molding and coal boiler vents remain intact, although the vents are not utilized except to spread breakfast aromas directly from the kitchen to your suite. The entire property, inside and out, was fully restored by the home's centennial anniversary in 2024.
